The Swimming Fish

Ciao
Today my heart is so full. I finished one of my very first handmade pieces, and I’ve named it The Swimming Fish.
For years, I’ve always worn my little fish pendant alongside my yellow sapphire diamond halo necklace. They’ve been my staples, my quiet companions.
But deep down, I always dreamed of creating my own fish pendant, one that someone, somewhere, might fall in love with… not just for how it looks, but for what it means.
This piece was made using the lost-wax method — hours of carving, shaping, smoothing, and refining the wax until it finally became the fish I saw in my mind.

The fish tells a story — a story of life, movement, and meaning.
I’ve always seen the fish swimming forward, no matter the current.
It’s been a quiet metaphor in my life: you are moving, you are alive, and you are exactly where you need to be.
I grew up wearing a fish pendant, a subtle link to my South Asian roots, where the fish symbolises abundance, fertility, and spiritual protection.
But creating one by hand in Rome felt different.
Here, surrounded by ancient stones and layers of history, I finally understood how the fish carried meaning for the ancients, too.
The Egyptians saw fish as symbols of rebirth and protection — especially in the afterlife.
In Ancient Rome, they were sacred to Venus, goddess of love and beauty, worn as charms for sensuality, fertility, and good fortune.
To shape a fish here, in a city touched by both Roman and Egyptian symbolism, felt like threading my heritage into the past.
This wasn’t just a pendant. It was memory, history, emotion, and movement, carved into metal.
Thank you for reading this.

Here is an image of me on the Metro. I am extremely tired, but this is my fish pendant that my mama designed. I always wear it!
